Gentle Reader,
It has been a wonderland of experiences.......every day. The greatest experience of my life. Simple acts of applying and removiving wax or polishing steel on the Spirit Guide have been gentle acts of rejuvenation. People who were previously acquaintances, have been remarkably generous. I was invited by Christopher, an entrepuenur, family guy and bartender par excellance, to be treated to a historical tour of Waikiki. Way cool! I have for 10 days been offered the sole possession of the Spirit Guide, while the Capt. is visiting the mainland. Also I have access to an old beater Lexus, a bicycle and a dingy to get around. I haven't ridden a bike since I was fifteen, never driven or whatever you do in a dingy. I am doing both. The Spirit Guide, in the 53' sailing category, is the Belle of the Ball.
My watering hole is the Hokelea at the J.W. Marriott and is accessible by car or bike. It is approximately 2 miles from the Ko'Olina Marina. If I drive the H.P.D. "5 0 " is not here, unless invited due to extraordinarily bad behavior. I live in a lawless land. When I choose to bicycle, my trek starts at the head of the Marina. It is a groomed park setting with cropped grass and palm trees with a wide meandering promenade, adjacent to the ocean, passing four lagoons and the premier establishments in this enclave. It is illuminated with hard scape lighting. Tourists don't know where they are and travellers don't know where their going. I think that was by Mark Twain. In either case running into either, with a bicycle, is not suggested. It requires the willingness of the rider to completely stop, dismount and walk past the truly clueless.
I have been to places where you noticed a guy being treated special and whom appeared to be in the know. I am now that guy. I am treated like a celebutard. Sweet! It's wild.
I celebrated my dear Joni's Birthday vicariously, like the voyeur I was, watching a T.V. reality show. I wish I could be in two places at once. Dr. Manhattan of The Watchmen has something going on that I do not.
Until next time.
Steve
